The Rifle Ponds Wildlife Viewing Trail is an easy trail you can walk, run, and bike that is dog friendly. This is a 0.75 mile loop paved/gravel trail near the Rifle Rest Area in Rifle, CO.

“Welcome to the Rifle Ponds Wildlife Viewing Trail. This interpretive project was made possible through a partnership with Colorado Parks and Wildlife and Colorado Department of Transportation. Enjoy this area, pick up your trash and be respectful of wildlife in the area.

Wildlife Viewing – an activity for the entire family

Use the right tools – field guide, binoculars and camera with telephoto lens.

Watch at dawn and dusk, when wildlife are most active.

Keep your distance – if the animal can detect you, you are too close.

Remain quiet, as not to disturb wildlife in the area.

Don’t feed wildlife – there is plenty of natural food in the wild.

Keep pets under control – it’s best for the wildlife and for your pet.”
