To get to the trailhead from Aspen, travel down valley on Highway 82 towards Woody Creek. Turn right onto Smith Way. The road winds down and at the bridge crossing the Roaring Fork River turn left. Follow Upper River Road for 2 miles to Chaparral Drive and turn right. Past the gate, after passing by the ranch the trail is up ahead on the left.
