1. Smuggler Mountain Road is an active county road open to the public, yield appropriately.
2. Dog guardians must carry and use dog bags; proper disposal is required.
3. You must carry a leash and use when appropriate.
4. Maximum of (2) dogs per person, per Pitkin County regulations.
5. Voice and sign control allowed on: Smuggler Mountain Road, and Hunter Creek Cutoff only, see trail map for details.
Sight control means:
You have a legal obligation to watch the dog at all times; “If The Dog is Behind You… You Are not Watching Your Dog”

The dog must respond when called or commanded by the guardian.

Started the trail at the John Denver sanctuary in Aspen, proceeded onto Oklahoma Flats and then Smuggler Mountain Road, ending at the Smuggler Mine. It was a fairly easy trail and an extremely beautiful and scenic route and seeing the old silver mine was very interesting. Loved seeing this trail beginning so close to downtown Aspen. Highly recommend it!
