Basalt, Colorado (6,611 ft) is a small town at the confluence of the Roaring Fork River and Fryingpan River. It once served as a stop on the Colorado Midland Railroad connecting the valley to Colorado Springs. It is a gateway to the Upper Fryingpan Valley and the towns of Meredith, Thomasville, Norrie Colony, Nast and Leadville. There are a lot of hiking and biking trails. We made a list.
